INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH CENTRE (IDRC)
(IDRC) is one of the “Canadian Crown corporations” established in 1970. An enterprise owned by the federal government of Canada and guided by an international Board of Governors, IDRC supports research in developing countries to promote growth and development.

IDRC works with researchers and innovators in those countries to find practical, long-term solutions to the social, economic, and environmental problems their societies face, bringing choice and change to the people who need it most.

IDRC’s mandate is set out in the IDRC Act of 1970, which directs the Centre “to initiate, encourage, support and conduct research into the problems of the developing regions of the world and into the means for applying and adapting scientific, technical and other knowledge to the economic and social advancement of those regions.”
